SAFETY AND SECURITY

One of the benefits of Park Living is the increased sense of security that one gets from having neighbours close and available to look out for each other. If you have concerns about your safety or securty, always approach park management to discuss your concerns.

If you are wanting to upgrade or repair safety or security items purchased after 22 August 2021, you can apply for a WA Govt rebate of up to $400. The following conditions apply:

You have a WA Seniors Card

  1. You have not applied since 22 August 2021 (claims under the earlier grant scheme 2009-2015 don't count).

  2. You must have the work done by a licensed provider with an ABN, pay the money, then claim up to $400 back. If you want multiple items, complete all the work then make one claim. If you claim less than $400, you can't later claim the rest.

Items that can be claimed include, security cameras, security screens and shutters, deadlocks, video doorbell, wired smoke alarms, sensor lights, fire extinguisher and more.

FIRE SAFETY AND SMOKE ALARMS

Fire safety is important in any dwelling, but more so in a park home.

  • Always ensure you have a clear escape method. Some park homes only have one door. Consider getting a second door installed.

  • Make sure you have hard wired smoke detectors that are in date. Do not rely on the older battery systems.

  • Be familiar with the park rules and procedures surrounding fire safety.

Here is a document from DEMIRS outlining the rules around smoke alarms. Note that all buildings being sold or transferred must have compliant smoke alarms fitted and (in most cases) hard wired.
